New Nexus 5X user with app issues

Well just got this last week.. Had HTC DNA with Verizon. It died.. Verizon had me back all contacts up to Verizon Cloud before it died... When Nexus 5X arrived, tried to install Verizon Cloud App thru the google store... came back saying "Your device isn't compatible with this version". I loose!!!!

Today, I tried to install the Redbox app which I use all the time, again i received "Your device isn't compatible with this version". What else wont I be able to use with the Nexus 5X?????

Good news is that I was able to download my contacts from Verizon and upload to Gmail and now have them again on my phone.. But really upset can't put on Redbox..... Anyone have this issue? My phone says it has Android Vs. 6.0.1 on it.....

It's a Verizon thing...there are plenty of other posts that Verizon refuses to sell Sim Cards for the 5X & 6P. If you already had a Micro Sim your ok.

Actually, they put a new micro sim in it for me free of charge and set up the phone... My issue is just I'm finding apps that aren't compatible. Verizon cloud for one, then Redbox for another.. But Verizon is playing nice and trying to help and will install the micro card free of charge....

That is bizarre. Redbox is the only app I've seen not compatible with the 5x. And I assume it's because Redbox hasn't updated their app to work with Android M yet. So, it's more likely Redbox's fault than an issue with the phone.

And I would never trust Verizon to back up my contacts. All of your contacts should be saved automatically through Gmail anyway.

A friend at work has a phone running marshmallo 6.0. He was able to install the app no problem... So it's down to the 5X or marshmallo software above 6.0. I have 6.0.1 on my 5X... Id appreciate anyone else with a 5X trying to put it on....

uswle - I just looked on the store for RedBox and found a number of apps with that name. Can you give me some way to identify the one you're interested in? The developer name maybe or an image of the logo?

Redbox is listed as incompatible with my 5X but compatible with my Nexus 5. Both run the same version of Android, so there's something with the 5X.

I have TMo BTW.

Thanks for confirming that the Redbox App doesn't work on the Nexus 5X... My only work around is to get to it manually by saving a bookmark and logging in that way.... Hey Maybe someone on the Google Nexus 5X team will see this post and try to lend a hand... If I find anymore, I'll add them here... thanks to all again...

I've already left a review for them. Between this, and the upside-down camera, it's kinda frustrating to own a Nexus sometimes.

For 90% of the time, it's not an issue. There are some developers that haven't updated their apps so when they use the camera, the image is upside-down and mirrored. One of those is the Chase bank app (!). So Google updated the API, but it also means that the developers have to update their apps. I don't really agree with Google/LG screwing up (IMO) their hardware and making everyone else conform. I also think the devs for some of these apps are super lazy for not updating.

Older media players were/are showing the videos upside-down because they weren't reading the metadata tags. The videos would show fine on the phone but upside-down on the computer. I haven't watched a video on the computer so that's hearsay from me.

Thanks for the info.

Actually, now you say that, I do vaguely remember something about it. I don't think I ever saw the problem, but I remember reading about it.

I had 3 apps that showed the camera upside down, I emailed all 3 of them & 2 didn't know about the API changed in the 5X. One developer fixed the problem overnight, the other two took a few days.
