New Nexus 7 user needs help, please

I purchased the Nexus 7 thinking I would be able to listen to audio books, but have been unsuccessful in figuring out how to do that. The manual gives no info whatsoever. I have downloaded Mortplayer audio book player and a few audio books, but I cannot seem to get the player (or any other ones I have tried) to find the books. The books both show in the "My Library" screen, but I cannot find where to hook them up. I am sure there is somewhere within the Nexus where I can get the player to find the books. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been trying to figure this out for quite awhile and am about to just return the Nexus, since the main reason I bought it was for my husband to listen to books since his vision is poor and he cannot read for long. Do you remember which folder you downloaded your audio books into? That will be helpful for using Mort Player.

Let's say you put your audio book files into the Nexus 7 folder called "Download" using a cable connection between your Nexus 7 and a Windows PC (for example). Now you need Mort Player to find the "Download" folder.

What you could do is reset Mort Player to open up the Download folder each time. You may need to erase the settings that were set up right after you first installed Mort Player. You do this by going to the Settings app, and clicking on "apps" and scrolling down to "MortPlayer Audio Books." Click on "Clear data." Don't worry, this won't ruin anything. Now go back to the main screen and click on the Mort Player app. It will prompt you to designate a folder for your audio books. First it will say "next" and then you need to click on "Main folder" on the following screen. If your audio books are in "Download" then you will want to click on "Other Directory" and it will then show you a list of folders.
