New owner questions

We I just picked up this fantastic phone to replace my evo 3d and have a couple questions. I notice the phone is roaming most of the time now where my evo is not. Also the wifi range seems to be considerably less then the evo. Is there a fix to these issues via rooting and using a different rom, or is this a limitation of the hardware? Thanks in advance

Samsung radios are known to be not so great with Sprint, especially compared to HTC. Not much you can do.

Thanks alot. The phone is truly awesome in all other ways, but honestly it seems it is roaming almost everywhere. If this is not fixable via software I may take its back and wait for a fix.

Before returning it, I would take it into a corporate sprint store (regardless if you bought it at a corporate store), let them know about the reception and see if they can test it and maybe swap it out for another one.

ok i will do that. has there been bad hardware with this phone, or is it a weakness of the radio that all these phones have?

I think it is Samsung phones in particular. I have read reports of the (Samsung) Nexus S 4G having reception issues as well. My EVO 4G Never had these reception issues.

yeah it does seem considerably less then my evo 4g and evo 3d.
