Help New phone started in Android System Recovery

I just received my Epic 4g touch from AmazonWireless. When I hit the power button, it started at the Android System Recovery screen.

I selected reboot and everything seems fine now, but I just wanted to see if this was normal. When I did a Google search for it, all the hits were talking about rooting a phone which I obviously haven't done.

Might you have inadvertently pressed the Volume Up button at the same time as the Power button (when you initially turned on the phone)? That button combo boots into Recovery.

That sounds plausible. I'll go with that explanation...

This is my first Android phone so it's all new to me
