New phone

I've been using Firefox Focus lately and it's been working out really well. It's a modified Firefox and if you're heavily dependent on web browsing on your phone it might not be for you as it doesn't retain general data, auto-deleting in between each browsing session. It's 'focus' is on blocking tracking cookies by default but be sure to go into its Settings menu to tailor things to your liking.

... but do not like Chrome. Any suggestions on a browser substitute.
Perhaps it might help if you state just what you specifically don't like about Chrome to prompt others to suggest their browser preferences.
Personally I find Chrome to be very good functionally but I just find overcoming its inherent telemetry properties on privacy (specifically tied to my Google account) too bothersome. Conversely a lot of people find this be beneficial to their online presence but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to take.

Chrome was so full of ads and cluttered.
I have used it before an the 2 x I tried it there was a problem. I am using Foxfire focus and I like it.

I find Chrome a bit too Google for me. I like Firefox Focus and use it for following links from other apps. For a general browser where I want bookmarks and history I like the regular Firefox's functionality, but it's not the fastest. If you don't care about a pretty UI then Naked Browser (or paid version NB Pro) is fast, light and functional - even on my Pixel 2 (which can handle any app any current phone can handle) I actually use it quite a lot.
