New status icon?

This icon recently showed up on my status line:

It's on the right hand side, so it appears to be a system status, not an application status. It doesn't appear in the notification list when I pull it down.

So far I've been unable to find any mention of it on the Verizon website or find it with a Google image search. Does anyone know what this icon means?

Coupled with the ! on the left I'd say you are getting, or are in, a hurricane

The triangle ! notice is a security notice (my phone is rooted.)

If that's a hurricane notification, that's one heck of a hurricane -- I'm in the Midwest (not generally known as hurricane territory!), and the notification has been on my screen for about a week, now!

Does it show up after you reboot your phone? I doubt it's a hurricane warning in the status section. My Wife has the S7E (AT&T) and I'll give it look when she gets home from work.

Okay, I'll poke around the wife's S7 when she gets home (can I say that in a family friendly forum? ) and see if I can find out which service that is.

looks like it's Rich Communications Services (RCS) that goes along with VoLTE.

So apparently Verizon just turned on RCS and VoLTE, since both icons suddenly appeared on my phone.

Thanks! Now on to find out what messaging clients support RCS and research the capabilities of RCS to see if I care.

Apparently AT&T doesn't support this because I couldn't find it on my Wife's S7.

What messenger are you using?

I'm on Verizon, using Textra (may need an update) but with a Moto X Pure. Wondering if it's the app or phone or just that Verizon knows I hate them
