New T Mobile update for Exhibit 2

Is there no chance of that happening?

Your guess is as good as mine and while I wouldn't exactly say there is no chance it is highly unlikely.

Samsung is moving onto their newer phones coming out.. mainly the GSIII, and GSII are still waiting on their ICS update for T-Mobile apparently.

Now... Why did the choose to rebrand the phone as Galaxy Exhibit 4G 6 months after this phone was released in an update while taking down the original Exhibit 4G phone which would have caused confusion between the two? .. No idea..
Maybe its doing better than they thought.. and want to add it to their "Galaxy" brand line... which could also mean they are paying a little more attention to this phone.

Probably much better chance in the ICS ROM being developed for this phone to finally get everything working (Including the camera) than an official version coming out.

We'll see.

Also... I too also wonder if this update will mess up my phone or not install at all if im rooted. On other phones like the HTC One S they have a prerequisite of the phone not being rooted but on this one it doesnt have that..

I used the Zerg Rush Method and still wondering if there is an easy way to unroot before applying the update.

I didn't receive any message on status bar and when I go to Settings>Software Update I get no firmware. I also tried updating from Kies which finds the update but does nothing after downloading the update. Could this be because I am rooted, if so could you tell me how to remove root so I can update my phone? thanks in advance.

There is a rooted version of the new ROM in this thread.

I tried the new rooted ROM but the SWAPSD messed up the ROM so I went back to my saved copy of Peach Sunrise 1.2a.

When the restore was done, I actually ended up with the new kernel still intact on top of Peach Sunrise. So, my kernel is updated but I am still running the Peach Sunrise ROM.

If you just install the rooted new kernel, apparently it will break the wifi.

YMMV.

Are you rooted? If so did you uninstall any of the bloatware?

Yes I am rooted, and I did remove all of the bloatware, and installed quite a few root only programs as well. Plus custom launcher and lockscreen. Changed from default browser, Videoplayer, Audioplayer, and SMS. Ram Manager Pro, Titanium Backup, Custom Kernal... Too much to just start over..

Thanks, That's good to know.. I'll probably go that route..

Thanks thats good to know because I thought root and removing bloatware breaks FOTA because when I go to settings> Software Update I get No firmware. Maybe T-Mobile doesn't send FOTA to everyone at once. Thanks again for the info.

Ok installed the firmware and lost root. I may just keep it this way unless I find any lagging issues. So far there has been zero lagg.

Update:

Phone started to lag so i decided to try and root it again. But Zerg failed to root. It installed Terminal Emulator but no super user. I checked the device with root checker and I am not rooted. So I am stuck at the moment. Anybody have a idea on what to do next?

I am not flashing a rom. I had a bad experience bricking my old LG Optimus T flashing roms and I don't want to turn this phone into a paperweight also.

So if I just update the Kernal, I'll lose Wifi? Sucks.. Now the Update from TMO is Popping up every hour or so and no longer gives me a postpone option. I guess I'm running out of options. Gonna have to install the Rooted Update and go from there. So glad you pointed that one out though. Thanks again!

From what I've read (on the page below) if you flash the kernel file on this page using the stock recovery, your phone will be rooted afterward.

Updated phone this morning. It does work better and a bit faster ( so far). Mine is not rooted, my moto is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;)
