Apps New to Android and Java

Hi all.

I'm trying to build a basic Android app using Eclipse. I have very basic understanding of Java (Perl is more my speed) and am armed with Java for Dummies, but I'm hoping to find a forum where I can post what are most likely very basic questions and am hoping to not get hammered too bad in response.

Any tips?

Just thought I'd give you some information I used when I first started getting into basic application design. I wrote about it here, but O'Reilly Media has a great youtube video that really gives you an overview of the simple code - and then there's the google group for andorid developers that I advise at least checking out, there's all sorts of random/good information on there.
