New to Android tech! Please help!

I have a Moto z play Droid on Verizon and I want to root my phone so I can get rid of all the useless, reduntant apps that are untouchable without root access and need to know what to watch out for and any general know how that isn't standard knowledge.

always flash a custom recovery incase something goes wrong so you can backup. Don't remove critical apps like the launcher or android system.

it's not exactly a app but you can use either clock work mod or team win recovery (Google it)
