Apps New to Android

Hi,

I"m trying out Android sdk version 8, AVD 2.1-update1 & API level 7 with Android development tool for Eclipse for the first time. I've been going through the Hello Android tutorial. Got the app running on my 2.4GHZ, 4G ram Macs. It's a bit, actually very very slow. But the "Hello Android!" text eventually shows up on the screen after some minutes. However, after making some changes in the main.xml and strings.xml as suggested in the tutorial for it to show "Hello World, HelloAndroid! I am a string resource!", but the text never shows up, the app seemed to stop at the home screen. I experienced the same slowness and behavior on my T61 ThinkPad 2.4GZ, 4G, running windows 7.

I tried the HelloLinerLayout tutorial. Same thing happened when run the app, it will stop at the home screen.

I don't know what it is. Can some please help? Is there a better and faster developing environment and tools?

Have got a lot of problems with the emulator here aswell it locks up a lot...

Hello,

I am quite new to this aswell. I found that once i had made the new project then run the emulator before any more code had been put on it loaded the emulator very quickly, once this has been done do not close the emulator. As you put more and more code in just save and then run it as normal and it will update it alot quicker.
