Apps new to android

Hello,

I want to write an android app but i know nothing about a programming language or android. i even bought my first android phone today. before that i was using a phone from stone age...

given that i am willing to learn what it takes, including the programming language, where should i start?

Android uses Java as developing language, so you should have a pretty good understanding of Java before going further to learn the Android SDK.

1. Download JDK(Java Development Kit)
2. Download a IDE you feel comfortable with, Eclipse is very widely used
3. Buy a Java book and/or try out some of the online tutorials out there.

miXer is correct that you do you should learn Java basics. However, I also think it is possible to learn this while learning to write android applications. I strongly suggest you go on youtube videos and look at downloading Eclipse IDE and how to create a project. After that you can find some really great videos on how to create a simple application. I learned by going to youtube and typing in android tutorial. There were a bunch of basic "Hello World" programs (Things you do to learn a language)

The easiest way to get started with Android is to follow this guide:
phonegap / phonegap-android-eclipse-quickstart

Then learn some HTML with CSS and start making simple apps that are based on web pages.
