Hi all. I'm about to upgrade from my trusty Nokia E71, which has served me well for 4 years but is coming to the end of its life and needs to retire in the sun with a well-earned rest.
I've not taken much interest in phones for a long time, as I've been very happy with the E71, but I've recently been delving into the mysteries of new model smartphones, and things seem to have moved on a little. Or a lot. I've decided to go the whole hog and get something meaty, that will last another 4 years (assuming I don't get bitten by the upgrade monster), so it's either a Note, Note 2. I've considered getting a W8 phone, but unless something comes out with a screen equal or very similar to the size of the Note/2, I won't. I like the idea of one device to do all manner of things, rather than several, and can accept it won't be perfect for most. I don't have a tablet, or eReader and probably wouldn't bother with either as I hate having so much crap around to charge and buy accessories for. The Note/2 does away with all that.
I've not used Android before, and almost certainly won't get into rooting or other forms of customisation other than trying to squeeze life out of the battery. I am interested in learning about the OS though, so that's why I'm here. I have one question already, which I'll post in the relevant section.
Oh, and yes, I'm an Expat living in Turkey.
