New to Nexus.. infact android... need suggestions...HELP pLz..

HI,
I m new to android, but still i know about the "root" thing. I dont know this might be a stupid question or not, but here it is. Currently i am using GALAXY NEXUS ICS. I want to update it to Jelly Bean and want to root too. What should i do, should i root first or update first or there are any options for both simultaneously??? Please help!!!!

I would say Root, then flash a JB rom, but to be sure I would post in the Nexus section and see what they say there, Samsung Galaxy Nexus
