New to Smart Phones - its a whole new world

Solhip

Lurker
I've just upgraded from an old Nokia 6110 Navigator to a Samsung Galaxy S2. I alternate between glee at the tricks my new phone can do to utter frustration when things e.g. downloading apps, won't work. I'm about to venture in to the tech forum. Be nice and don't be afraid to speak simple.

Welcome to the forums, Solhip!

Ahhh I've been there myself. Learning a new smartphone and operating system can be fun and frustrating. I'm sure you'll get plenty help in the Samsung Galaxy S2 forums. That phone is pretty popular.

Which version of the S2 do you have?

Welcome Solhip to Android Forums, we are happy that you joined, look around and enjoy. :hello: :congrats:

Also if you want to be able to connect to the Forums from your Android device, be sure to check out the free Phandroid app in the Google Play Market. Cheers!!!!

Not sure what version I've got. The model number is GT-I9100. I needed a new phone because I kept dropping the old one hence why I didn't consider the Iphone. Talk, text and a camera was all I really wanted. The internet is a new toy and will be used less frequently than most people.

Thanks for the tip on the Phandroid app. Especially after searching through many threads I managed to fix my app download problem. Don't understand it but its fixed.

Welcome to Android Forums Solhip.:)

The folk above me have done well in getting you to the right place to ask your questions. I want to reassure you that this is anything but a "tech forum." When I joined I could be outwitted by a fence post with regards to Android. Don't worry about folks here being nice, and if you need something simplified, just ask. In my opinion you have just joined the most friendly Android support site on the internet. We not only tolerate, but welcome questions from new inexperienced members. If in your travels you come across Steven58 who has more posts and thanks than anyone here, you will see his signature is "Don't be afraid to ask questions, that's what turns noobs into experts" or something along those lines.

Thank you for joining AF and I hope you enjoy your stay.
