Hi Sandy and welcome to Android Forums!

Remember that none of were born Android "experts". We all started at the same skill level: ZERO. I was scared to death when I first rooted my Motorola Droid in December 2009... even now, my pulse quickens when I perform certain operations! So don't be afraid: just know some things:

  • What you're doing. That means you understand every step involved in a process.
  • WHY you're doing it. A deep understanding of each step prevents Murphy's Law from installing on your device :D
  • Know and use nandroid backups. A LOT. When in doubt, make a backup!
  • What to do if things go wrong. Always have a contingency plan. If you're stuck in Recovery or a bootloop, minutes count because your battery power is slowly dwindling away.

And know this: we're here to help you. Ask any questions BEFORE you get started! Soon enough, you'll be the "expert" that newer Android enthusiasts turn to for guidance. Enjoy your rooting & ROMming journey!

It's great to have you here :)
