Hi Folks,

I've had a cheap Android pad for a while now. It was marketed by Matricom but is one of those Allwinner pads.

I decided to root it. It went well enough, and it's much faster now.

However, there are a couple troubling items:

1. There is malware/viruses/PUP in the bundled packages. I delete them and they come back. At least one (identified as a virus by two Avast and 360), when deleted, throws the pad into demo mode, as denoted by a large red "DEMO" declaration across the screen. This one is called com.android.server . Is it maybe a valid system file that was cracked by the factory?

2. Root access doesn't seem to work for any firewall I've tried. Kingo says they have access; root checkers say the device is rooted; all other apps requiring root work fine. It's just the firewalls that have problems. I'm running a VPN firewall right now, and it seems to work well enough. I'm trying to locate the program that's reinstalling the malware behind my back. However, there are a couple things it's not blocking and I'd like to rectify this.

3. Is it possible to wipe the tablet and reinstall a clean Android OS? This is what I prefer to do with new computers, and would love to just wipe this pad clean and install the base system, then build on that.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Josh
