New User: App Recommendations?

Unleashed

Lurker
I've just got my G1 today, and after getting it up and running have been browsing the Android Market.

Are there any apps that you would recommend to a new user?

Any that I simply shouldn't miss?

There are tons of apps which you can see here on the web version

Make sure you install the barcode app so you can snap a photo of the funky looking square/barcode so you can install fast. ;)

Useful Switchers
Cyrket - Search: 'useful switchers'
HUGE fan of this app. Instead of digging around in things you can just find it quick and to the point.

Toggle Screen

Makes a button press disable the screen time out for instance your trying to tinker with something and your screen keeps shutting off. With this app one click disables, one click turns on your screen shutdown..

Weather Channel

Awesome weather app

SMS POPup

You miss a Text message this will allow your phone to alert you a few more times beyond the defaulted once. Lame if you ask me for the G1 default, but this app fills the gap.

Mybackup

Backs up your apps. Kinda slick app too.

Where

Finds tons of things, movie listings, food, sevices. I just like it.

Yellowbook

Find anything in the yellow pages and links to your map app and your phone.

Get ChompSMS, it has a great on-screen keyboard whenever you don't feel like opening the phone to use the keyboard for quick, short messages.
