NewB internet access question

I am interested in the new HTC EVO from Sprint, but have a question about what happens when I am off of the Sprint network. If I am roaming off the Sprint network, can I still access the internet? If so, are there typically additional charges?
I do not even know enough to ask other questions.

While you are roaming you still have access to the net, but use it for the basics only, as there is a 300mb (give or take) data roaming limit.
