i'm hoping someone can help me make up my mind. i'm an ATT customer. right now i have the older version of the Blackberry Bold (i like it well enough), and before that had the iphone (HATED).
i've been wanting an Android phone, and now my BB is on the fritz, so it's time for something new.
from reading the forum, i think my options are:
-samsung captivate
-nexus one (from ebay/craigslist)
-a telus HTC legend
-bell HTC desire.
what i want in a phone:
-loads websites quickly
-doesn't drop calls at random
-if it matters, i have tried out the htc Evo and absolutely love it. i wish i could switch to sprint! i liked the UI a lot, and the screen was huge and bright. so... something similar to that would be great.
-a working GPS would be nice, but i don't have one on the BB so it's not the biggest issue
i was able to try out the Captivate in the store, and it seemed okay- perhaps a little too similar to the iphone, and i also noticed some lag when switching between apps. but the screen was gorgeous and it was quick to load the internet which was great. my cons for this phone would be the gps issue, lag time, and the fact that i don't trust samsung as much as HTC.
i've never seen a nexus one, but for some reason feel compelled to try it out. i just don't know if it would be stupid to spend around $500 for a used phone that is no longer new. i would assume it won't be as quick on the internet as the captivate- agree/disagree? on the other hand, using an HTC brand phone, and a UI from google that isn't affected by ATT and Samsung's influence is appealing.
i don't know much about how i would acquire the Telus Legend or Bell Desire from Canada- i see some on ebay that are listed as 'unlocked' but i don't know if that means they're the right version, since i'm in the US.
anyway, i'd love to hear opinions on what you would do in my situation! every time i convince myself that it would be easiest/cheapest to just go get the Captivate from ATT i convince myself not to. but i also am having trouble convincing myself to part with $500 for the Nexus because it isn't really new anymore.
