Help Newbie - How do I transfer photos taken by LG Volt to my laptop?

AMauler

Newbie
I have my LG Volt Android next to my laptop. I'm charging my LG with a USB cable from my laptop like I did with all the previous dumb phones I had previously. Before I was also able to go into my laptop's My Computer and go into the memory of my phone and retrieve photos, but now I have no idea where they're at. I even did an Advanced Search to try to find all files "Modified" today, but still nothing. "LG Volt" shows up in laptop's My Computer as a drive, and clicking on this shows two more internal drives, Internal storage and SD card. I can't find anything in there.

I know the Android phone can somehow transfer the photo through my provider's data handling, but since I was next to my laptop with the USB cord anyway, could I just locate this photo file on my phone using Explorer and copy it to my laptop? This was no problem with my prior dumb phones.

I can see a few photos I took earlier at...
Computer\LG Volt\SD card\DCIM\Camera

But not the one I took minutes ago. The other...
Computer\LG Volt\Internal storage\DCIM

just has a few thumbnails.

You using the stock camera app? Do you have a choice (in the camera settings) of where to store your pix?

Have you done anything else to the device and then noticed this picture "disappearing act"?
I would assume you are mounting the phone as "MTP" (when plugged in to the computer)?
Not totally familiar with the Volt ;)

Yes, three choices, but I choose MTP. I checked this morning and NOW the image appears as a jpg. Why wasn't it there last night? I hit "refresh" at the Explorer directory & it never appeared last night.
