Help Newbie questions ZTE Racer!!

Hello! My name is George i'm a bit of a noob o android and about a month ago I urchased a ZTE Racer on PAYG from 3 mobile as I felt the tariff was a good deal.

After fiddling and downloading apps I liked the phone and the man reason I bought it was to check emails, ebay and skype on the move.

After 1 month of realising that 3's abysmal signal coverage hadn't improved from the last time I was with them about 7 years ago I decide to disgard the phone and goback to using a cheap one on o2.

But today I got the phone unlocked on ebay and then put my o2 sim in as I thought I may aswell make use of the phone!

My questions are,

Can you still use your android apps on o2?

Why does ZTE have no support for software on their site? I cant recall if I got a software disk with the phone!

Is the phone going to be any use to me on o2?

The official ZTE site is next to useless, everything you need can be found in forums. O2 will be fine, network doesn't matter as long as you are signed in to gmail on your phone.

yeah all aps should work hope you didnt pay too much to get it unlocked its free if you would of asked on here first.
if you like o2 you will love these guys and gals.
the networks called GiffGaff and runs off of o2
you get 300 minutes Unlimited Texts and Unlimited Internet for

on my settings > location + security > Screen unlock pattern... i want to turn that off but on the "Require pattern" bit its just grey, i cant tick it neither untick it its just "set unlock pattern" i want to completely get rid of the unlock pattern

Hello I wanted to ask, if I download universal androot and run it, to root my phone, will i still have complete usability and will all my files etc be there after? More or less - can it screw up my phone?
