Lurker
I just bought my 1st smart phone. It is a unlocked Samsung rugby pro. The problem I am having is sending pictures with a text. Is there something I need to do to make this work.

It just keeps trying to send but after a few minutes ends up stopping and telling me failed attempt. I do have data enabled.Hello and welcome to Android Forums, lonewolf59.
Are you getting an error when you attempt to send the photo? or, is it that the recipient isn't getting them?
Text messages (SMS) are sent over your wireless phone network, but if you attach any media, like a picture, it is converted to MMS which requires a data connection. If you go to menu>settings>wireless & networks>Mobile networks, make sure you've enabled data.
My carrier is Consumer cellular. It could be an incorrect setting for your APN (access Point Name) since internet traffic and MMS messaging may use different APN's.
Check menu>settings>wireless & networks>mobile networks>access point names and then tap on the active access point (if you have more than one listed) and look for the MMSC setting. If you let us know who your carrier is, we can figure out if it's correct.
My carrier is Consumer cellular.
There is only 1 active point listed.
It is "ATT Phone" the mmsc is http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
There you go ... you've got the APN for AT&T's network on the phone, not Consumer Cellular. You can find the proper settings HERE (see #2).
Just tap on each of the settings to edit it and then save the updated APN. It would probably be a good idea to reboot your phone afterwards, just to make sure all the old settings are flushed from the cache.
If you are not a consumer cellular customer then that link is not correct for you. Who is your carrier?
I am a consumer cellular customer but your link only goes to their FAQ page and there is no number 2. Can you just give me the settings?
