I've been curious about this as there are a lot of files in the spectrum ROM with this in the name.
I did a little digging online and it appears the company developed an Android video editor specific to snapdragon processors, they're video player code is included in the HBO Go app also. However, I cannot find any reference to an application in the market. And I don't know of any video editor that comes with the spectrum. Does the stock video app do editing? Our does it utilize the player code?

so I did notice something, I am making a modified V6 rooted stock nandroid file and while editing the build.prop I noticed the references to nextreaming (normally I just ignore that section and skip over it while I edit that file) and this is what is in there:
So it does look like it is part of the LG Rom, AND I think it is at least responsible for the "scanning SD card for Media" message that displays when you switch from mass storage to charge only mode while connected via USB to your computer. Also it appears when you first boot up.
I am going to flash the V6 stock rooted nandroid here in a bit (then replace it with my customized version) and mess around with the video apps. I'll report back if I find anything useful. If I do not find anything useful, then it may be possible that the stock LG system Rom uses the Nextreaming technology ONLY for the DRM decryption methods mentioned in the above links. Since I use HBO Go, I'll not mess with it. Although HBO Go is not installed by default in the Rom, so I would assume all of the necessary files would be in the App already when you install it from the market. So maybe I will try cutting the nextreaming info out of the Rom, then installing HBO go and giving it a shot. We will see, I do not have that much time this week to get all of that done.
