Nexus 5 Questions

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction on the following questions.

I am currently with Virgin Mobile - I am thinking about getting the Nexus 5 on T-Mobile. Is it possible for me to switch carriers and keep Nexus 5 (e.g. on T-Mobile and then in a year go to ATT with my Nexus 5)?

Second - If I travel internationally, is it possible to swap out the SIM to install a local SIM?

The Nexus 5 is unlocked, so yes, and yes
 
one thing you need to be aware of is that there are 2 versions of the radio for 4G LTE.

the US version and Non US version, if you have one, it wont work on the other regions 4G network and vice a versa.
