Since you updated, have you done a factory reset? I know a lot of people don't like the idea but it really does clean things up. Just make sure you have ALL your information backed up before you do.
When you say lock up, what are you referring to? Do the hardware buttons continue to work? Does whatever is happening on the screen continue to happen or does everything just freeze completely?
