I just received my Nexus 6p yesterday morning and was pumped.
The package was delivered through FedEx and the box had a huge bash in the side. After opening the box I saw some of the worst packaging I've seen. Just a couple of rumpled paper thrown in to cushion the nexus container, however it could be thrown around easily.
After opening the nexus I wasn't overly concerned because the phone seemed to be in excellent shape.
No scuffs, dents or scratches whatsoever.
The rest of the day I warmed in the new phone and was extremely impressed by the fingerprint reader, the display (oh my god it is good), the general look and feel of the phone, as well as the camera and UI.
The experience was extremely fluid. Touchscreen is as icy as you would expect from an iPhone and it worked without a hiccup.
However in the evening as I was just about to charge the phone for the night, it had a heart attack.
I was browsing a Google Now article when the display lagged horribly for about 3 seconds, then freezes up. It was stuck on the page and I couldn't use the touchscreen at all (the back and home buttons didn't work either). The power button wouldn't do anything, even after holding it down.
So I just left the phone for a couple of minutes to see if it would sort itself out.
Came back to it and the screen was black.
Half an hour later, after trying to turn on the phone (tapping the power button and holding down) there is no result. But even 40 minutes later the phone is still warm as if it was on.
So after a quick google I put it in "recovery?" mode by holding down the power button and volume down. The display works and I decide to power off the phone via recovery mode. After waiting a little bit I power it on by holding the power again and it works as normally. I am writing this the next morning and the phone is still operating as normal.
Is this a possible defect within the phone? I haven't even set up the carrier with it, would it be worthwhile to return it?
I have had zero other issues with the phone, but that happening after 1 day of really careful use seems strange.
Also, anyone else have this issue? I just need advice right now
PS: Sorry for the wall of text, I wanted to be thorough.
