Nexus 6P no native access to Groups

In Google contacts on my s7 edge could organize in groups that exist in my gmail contact list.

That is not turned on in the Nexus 6P google contact app

Contact + is a wok around but it is over kill

Any way to turn on Group view in Google Contact App
