Help Nexus 7 (2012) empty downloads?

On my nexus 7 I have lots of photos files etc I download from the internet and gmail etc.
I move them from there to different parts of my nexus.
So the actual download folder is usually empty.

But when I go into settings downloads there is a long list of the past years downloads.
How can I get rid of this list?

You could try deleting the cache (and perhaps data too) for the app "Downloads".

Go to Settings -> Apps and swipe to the "ALL" tab, then scroll down to "Downloads" and tap on it. The rest should be obvious - but if it isn't: tap the "Clear cache" and/or "Clear data" buttons and see if that helps.
