Nexus 7 2013 compass

Does anyone know if the issue with the compass has been fixed in the new Nexus 7? Programs that require it to work (and don't in my 1st gen Nexus 7) have a problem with this. Anyone out there that has a new Nexus 7 & please install the Google Sky Map program and let me know.
