Hi I'm hoping someone could give me some advice on which tablet I should get for my 6 year old nephew for christmas. I'm stuck between the Kindle Fire and the nexus 7. I'm going more to the nexus 7 due to it having the playstore and the better specs. But the kindle fire(Non HD) is about

Nexus 7, I just purchased one last week and it's pretty awesome. As you said you would have to root the kindle to get the play store but with the Nexus 7 you could always just download Kindle apps (Kindle reader, Amazon MP3, etc....). Plus you get all the updates as they come out.

I agree with Mostly here, I don't own either but based on what I have read and my little research on the subject :p , I would tend to go the N7 way. :)

Matt, I have both the Fire (for my wife) and two N7's (me and my 5yr old) and I would recommend the N7 wholeheartedly. Even my wife has commented how much more comfortable the N7 is to hold. I think the screen is crisper, and the hardware is much more modern. Also, I have already recieved three OTA's for the N7's while hers is running the same thing that came out of the box. The N7 will be current for some time to come with fresh updates straight from Google.

I hope this helps.
