Nexus 7 or Toshiba Excite 7.7?

Now that the N7 has a 32gb version, I am not "as" concerned about space and now considering the N7. The Excite 7.7 can be purhcased for $100 more for the 16gb and $150 more for the 32gb.

N7 + points: Better updates, $100 to $150 cheaper

N7 - points: No sd or proper OTG, out of box

E7.7 + points: Better display that is also .7" bigger to make up for the fixed nav bar, sd slot and OTG support and better build.

E7.7 - points: Big a$$ proprietary cable and $100 to $150 more

Overall seems the E7.7 is the better device, but $100 to $150 equates to a lot of good beer that could be bought instead. Seriously.

Anybody actually have/had both to compare?

The base model for the Toshiba Excite 7.7 is almost $500? I might as well just get the Nexus 10 for $399 if that's the case.

Office Depot and HH Gregg had them for the lower price. I already have TF300, but want a smaller tablet that is more practical to lug around.

One of my sons needed a tablet for school, so I gave him my HTC View.

There is a comparison of specs at Comparing Google Nexus 7 vs. Toshiba Excite 7.7 AT275 32GB - Five Reasons for the Google Nexus 7 - VERSUS IO I think the conclusion of which is best is individual based on how you will use it. The display on the N7 is quite good, performance is quick and size is right (for me). The screen size of the N7 is smaller than the E7.7 but the pixel count is higher, so if better is defined by pixels the N7 is better. The build quality is excellent and I have had no issues. The OTG is limited, but with the Nexus Media Importer app, you can use a USB storage device for viewing, listening and importing files. I have 32GB of Movies on mine. I went from a Galaxy Tab 10.1 to the N7 and have no regrets.

Nexus 7, Cheaper and it is a great device.

If you want a larger one, get the Nexus 10.

If you want more storage, get a MicroSD to Micro USB Adapter.

Got to compare them. The display on the E7.7 is far better for color and contrast. The E7.7 is iPad 3 level great as far as wow factor. I have an iPad 3 and think the E7.7 is better due to contrast and color.

Still not sure if worth the price difference, but OTG and sd card is nice.... The one big stupid on the E7.7 is the proprietary charger. The footprint of the cable overall is actually BIGGER than the tablet. That is pure nuts.

The cable oddly enough is now my main sticking point. Were it not for the insanely amazing display on the E7.7, I would already have the N7 and not be debating anymore.

I can rationalize either purchase with good points, but dang the power cable for the E7.7 is some serious stupid on Toshiba. Beyond stupid, the more I think about it for a device designed to be portable.

Update:

Got a 32GB Excite, but paid $150 more than the N7. For me the better quality display, build, full otg without root and sd slot are worth the premium. Also having .7" more display offsets the navigation bar always being there.
