Help Nexus 7 seems very slow

I have a new Nexus 7, and the internet dependent apps are all very slow. My old Nook tablet is much faster at browsing the internet and connecting for downloads.
I've tried Chrome and Dolphin browsers. I like the Dolphin on my Nook.
The Facebook app and the weather app from my local tv station are also both very slow to load and update.
Also, whenever the tablet goes to sleep and wakes up again, it doesn't seem to automatically connect to wi-fi. The indicator stays gray, although it says it's connected. In order to turn the indicator blue, I usually put it in airplane mode and then back, and after waiting a couple minutes, it finally turns blue.
What could I possibly be missing here?

It would seem you have some problems properly connecting to your router. You could try setting a fixed ip for the N7 in your router, seeing as you have many devices connecting to it that might help. Also you could just leave your wifi on during sleep, the impact on battery life from that is close to none.

Do you have the same problem on other wireless networks, if so it could be a bad wifi in your Nexus
