Nexus 7 Touchpad stopped working

I have a second generation Asus Nexus 7. I have had it for six weeks. The touchpad has stopped working. I cannot power off or type in my password to log on. I still get the notification icons from app updates and my email.
Has anyone experienced this? Any solutions?
