Nexus 7 uses old G+ profile pic

I've updated my Google Plus profile pics weeks ago and all online Google services use my new picture, however my Nexus 7 refuses to keep the new one. The little circle icon on the login screen (user switcher) remains as my old picture and so does the pic in the notification area. Annoyingly if I access G+ on my Nexus 7 and browse for a minute it will update but after a few hours in standby, it goes back, its fudging annoying!

Anyone heard of this or have any work-arounds??

Have you tried dumping the application cache for G+?

not sure if this is a solution but i couldnt update my pic on my nexus 7 and after i added myself to my contacts the picture changes. Not sure if i couldnt change it because i disabled almost all the stock google apps.
