I've tried for over a day to transfer video files between my computer (Win XP) and my newly acquired Nexus 7 tablet (not rooted) via USB cable and it doesn't work. Image and audio files are transferring but i can't see any of them from Windows Explorer, the MTP Device is always empty.
Here's the error message i get: The "name.extension" file type is not supported on this device. If it is a media file, you may be able to use Windows Media Player to convert the file to a playable type prior to transfer. Do you wish to skip this file now?
MP4, AVI, MKV, none of them work. I also used handbrake to convert the files thinking it might be a frame size issue, still no go. I then tried from the laptop of my GF with Windows 7, I could transfer all the video files I wanted and see the content of the MTP Device.
After reading several threads here and there, I found nothing concerning this issue. I tried to work around it with Airdroid (thread here mentioned it) and it worked for MP4 files, but it won't recognize and transfer some file extension like AVI.
Any ideas as to how i should go about fixing this? Thanks!
**EDIT**
Problem fixed, I updated Windows Media Player to Version #11 and Rebooted, now Win XP sees the Tablet as My Computer\Nexus 7\Internal storage, i can add and delete files of every type right from Windows Explorer.
