NFC Starter not run task

I am trying to use NFC Starter to execute a task. The task itself works but when I try and activate it with an NFC tap it doesn't run.

The NFC tag is acknowledged and the screen flashes but the task does not run. I've tried with both a specific tag and with any tag.

Running on a Nexus 6 rooted Android 7.

Unfortunately, no.

I did install trigger and had it execute the task successfully.

I did get it to work in Tasker once. I was promoted to "new tag collected" or "NFC Tag Discovered". I selected "NFC Tag Discovered" and it ran. I can't reproduce it though. Almost like something is intercepting the tag read.

Here is the "pop up" I got, after multiple attempts. Selecting "NFC Tag Discovered" allows the task to run.

Reformatted my phone and installed 6. Found that I consistently got the "new tag collected" or "NFC Tag Discovered". I selected "NFC Tag Discovered" and it ran. I went into Apps--> Show System and disabled "Tags" and it worked. Installed 7 and found the same thing as 6. I have disabled "Tags" in 7 and it is working now. Not sure why the "new tag collected" or "NFC Tag Discovered" was hit-or-miss on 7 before but now seems to be working. If you consider the need to disable "Tags" as working.
