There is an app available in Play Store that enables you to write tags for all sorts of events and you can also achieve what you are looking to do using it.

First of all, when you open the app you'll see a large + sign in the top right-hand corner - press that > 'setup triggers' page openbs with another + sign in top right-hand corner > press that again and select 'trigger' i.e. the top one called 'NFC' >then press 'Next' and + sign again followed by 'Application & Shortcuts' > then select ' what is appropriate e.g. 'Close Application' (it will pop-up a notice regarding being rooted, that is it warns that the action may or may not work if you are not rooted) > press 'Next' which will start looking for all installed apps and then provide a drop-down menu to all your apps > choose the one you want to close and select 'Add to Task' > now you can give the task a name but you don't have to >press 'Next' and follow the instruction to complete your task/tag creation.

I think you are talking about AutomateIt but you need to be rooted for close app to work. This is what first prompted me to root my phone.
