What's Happening with User Interfaces?

I'd think some are OK in certain circumstances, but if I was doing page layout and checking articles at the same time, I would not be happy. I don't happen to like speed dials in browsers and phones, so why would I want something similar on a desktop OS?

Those of us who know how to write a good outline usually have bookmarks organized that way. A speed dial is no good.

MS DOS has the best interface you could have wished for. Yes you do not have multiple windows nor GUI, but it's faster navigation than anything i can remember. You see person working on MS dos and you think he is some kind pf genius, there is almost no way to catch the action on the screen if you are standing few feet away.

You've apparently never seen a UNIX/Linux guru having at it. MS DOS is to UNIX as cave men are to astronauts.

This is what drew my attention...

Over a billion Android devices predicted shipped in 2014. I bet many of them will be low cost Chinese phones and tablets for emerging markets. I can see that been a serious problem for Microsoft coming up. Windows 8 devices are expensive, and many people in emerging market countries can't really afford them. And if they're anything like here in China, the more affluent tend to buy Apple iOS or Samsung Android tablets, from what I've seen so far.
