There are obviously going to be different cases as time goes along, the eBay one is not bad for what it is, but it certainly does look like it would be easy to grip. On a phone this size, you have to watch that a bit, depending on how long your fingers are.
I put my phone in my pants pocket generally, so I'm after something that's slim. I've had good luck with Sena cases, so for now I'm using:

It's a leather slip case, fits the Maxx pretty tightly, and covers all but the top of the phone. It takes a bit of time to wear in, but you just press on the bottom to get the phone out. The advantage of a case like this is that it protects the screen, so if you have something else in your pocket, like a bluetooth, you have less of a problem. One disadvantage is that it's a bit too tight initially, tends to interfere with the off-on button.
Vaja is not out yet with a Maxx case, takes them longer, but that's another very good leather case maker, once they tool up. I am not a huge fan of leather, but it does have certain advantages and applications where it works well (try and buy a non-leather belt sometime). But the drop protection (as long as you didn't drop it on the screen) for the silicone units is probably better. Otterbox, has a couple of Maxx cases out that are in the higher-protection (except again screen) category, and they have a darker color finish. I generally buy everything in black (not that I'm the anti-Apple or anything, but I live in New York, and it's pretty much the standard color, and at least everything matches
). As to whether or not white is a girlie color, I'd say it really doesn't matter, go with what you like, if Arnold Schwarzenegger is carrying the phone (and even if it was pink), nobody is much going to say anything, and if the do, who cares anyway (did I say I'm from New York
). Or I think the case comes in black, anyway:
