No Android Market - where can I download apps?

I bought a MID WM8650 Android Tablet with Android 2.2 installed. It has no Android Market. I appreciate that there will be plenty of people willing to help me to install it. However, it seems that Google do not want me to be able to access the apps on the Android Market and so I am not supposed to install their market app. So, for now I am going to try to go along with this and I would like to be able to obtain apps from another source.

Can anyone help me by recommending other sources of Android Apps?
Thank you

Welcome to Android Forums.

Google would be thrilled to have you download and install apps from the Android market, as long as the hardware manufacturer was properly licensed to provide it to you. Unfortunately many of the lower priced devices are not properly licensed and therefore cannot provide authorized access to the market.

You can get apps from the Amazon Android App Store.

Amazon App Store seems to not let you download unless you have a paying account configured?

Anyway, I am wondering if perhaps he can access AppBrain market if he has no Android App Market? He can probably get an apk of that market from its website.

Appbrain simply redirects you to the Android market. If the device is not licensed it will not do anything. Appbrain does not maintain a separate repository of .apk files.

I see. I only asked because I realized that Appbrain has this "FastWebInstaller" thing which you install, allowing the Appbrain market to install direct to your phone without opening the market app.

So the O.P. needs another source for .apk files, right? OK, here's a bunch for starters. But into which directory on the SD card should the O.P. copy those .apk files before he can install them on his phone?

I just stuck a file called downloads on the card. The apk installer that is built into the Coby just hunts until it finds apk files. It's slow but does work.

Android tablet forums does have files that you can install to get market on some tablets.
I managed the Coby 7024. So now I can get Gmail, too. You don't have to root and it involves some fussing.

Market is listing the Coby as a TMO device (it isnt')

Thank you for the apps.

Thank you for the warning.

There are many freeware sites on the internet where one can download software for the PC but with the recommendations of other users, giving some degree of safety. I had assumed that similar sites would exist dedicated to android apps. Was I wrong?

Thanks

It looks that way. I am not aware of any such sites for Android software either.

I'm surprised that no other readers of your OP offered up their .apk files. So much for solidarity...
(I just compared my apps with DoDodorant's and there's not much difference; so there's no point in uploading them).
