No CLEAR ALL option for Notifications

Some people running Android 7.1.1 have a CLEAR ALL option for notifications.

Some others, such as myself have NO SUCH OPTION and notifications can only be cleared individually, one at a time, with a finger swipe.

Can anyone explain why this is the case and suggest a way to remedy it?

OK, I finally found it.

My notification list was so freakin' long I had to scroll forever to get to the bottom.
