No encryption option??

I currently have a LG G Pad 3 8.0 and i want to encrypt it, but there is no such option to. The only option i get is to encrypt my SD card. I'm totally confused as to why i cannot do this.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Aren't devices all encrypted by default since marshmallow came out...

Its only older versions that need it to be enabled.

What version of android are you using?

The LG G Pad 3 8.0 shipped with Marshmallow and was upgradeable to Nougat. If you are running Nougat, then @psionandy is correct, your phone is encrypted already.
