No Ethernet connection on MK809

Hi guys, Iwonder if anybody could help. I've had an MK809II for about 18 months, but rarely used it due to the streaming issues. Well today I bought an ethernet cable and a Micro USB to Ethernet adaptor and connected the ethernet to the MK809. I turned the wifi off and the ethernet on. The problem is that the MK809 is not picking up any of the ethernet settings. So the IP address, gateway and dns settings are all at zero! I've reset the router and restarted the box, but nothing. I thought that I was finally going to get some use out of my toy, but it doesn't seem to be meant. Any advice would be greatly welcomed.
