Oreo update didn't bring gifs or stickers to my keyboard. Could it be something wrong with my phone? I have ATT.

hi,

t mobile stock variant. I dont use the samsung keyboard so i went to a random text message and clicked on the samsung keyboard. it asked me to enable gifs, to which i did, then they showed up.

do you have the option to switch keyboards when you are in a screen that allows typing?

the first image i posted , if you look at the bottom right of the phone, you see a keyboard icon. you tap that and it brings up your other installed keyboards (if any).

what version of the samsung keyboard do you have?

if you know someone else who has a note 8 (or maybe s8) on att, ask them if they have the keyboard.

you can also call a local att store and ask if they have an oreo updated note 8 on display and see what version they have and if they can pull up the gifs.

you can try to clear the phone's cache (instructions are all over the internet).

if no success on any of that, you may have other issues that may need updated support, since it was easy to set up, as i have shown.

you can also contact samsung.

Yes I have the option to switch keyboards see attached. I just texted one person I know with a note 8 but she's not on ATT, she's on sprint, waiting for her response. I've also cleared cache. I honestly could have sworn I saw gifs on the menu before but it's not the now, guess I was mistaken. Maybe I'll take it to the store to see if they know why. Also attached keyboard version 3.0.10.34.

yeah i have the same version of the keyboard app. perhaps you didn't approve the use of the gifs inadvertently by denying the use of it. again speculation.

if its crucial to you, you may need to factory reset, or maybe you can find an older version of the keyboard ap,. side load it, then attempt to update back to the newer one....

Tried that it didn't work but this is what did, I installed the latest messages apk after watching this YouTube video and then it asked me to grant gifs access, the are no stickers but I have the gifs and the latest messages apk I like the look, inserted screenshot of where and what I downloaded, this may help others. Only thing is I am not sure which version I had prior but at this point doesn't matter to me😁
