I've successfully connected my Galaxy S7 Edge to my Windows 10 PC and enabled USB tethering on the S7. Windows detected the S7 as a network adapter and created the device in the Network Connections page of the Control Panel. Furthermore, it enabled the connection and shows it in the system tray.
However, the system tray icon has the yellow triangle with exclamation mark and reports "No internet access". The computer appears to be connected to the S7, but it can't open any web pages.
Selecting "Diagnose this connection" in the the Windows Control Panel reports "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem".
ipconfig reports:
Ethernet adapter Ethernet 2:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::d957:a6e:2286:23f3%13
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.42.2
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.42.129
Using a website's ip address still does not allow me to access it, so I think this is more than a dns issue.
The phone, by itself, can access the web without issue.
Any ideas how I can get this working?
