My last S3 received the kitkat update a few week ago. I absolutely hated it. Especially the GPS function. Every time I turned the GPS on it would 1.) Automatically Switch it over to high accuracy, which consumes more battery and then I had to manually switch it back to wifi and towers or just GPS Only and 2.) A dialogue box would pop up asking me to agree to something or other every time I activated it.
So over the the weekend for some reason the "home" button on my GS3 quit responding. Since my phone is still under manufacturer warranty (got it in November 2013) I called Verizon and was promptly sent a replacement the next day which had 4.3 on it.
Knowing what I know about Kitkat, I promptly rooted it with TowelRoot and froze the SDM so I would no longer receive update notifications for Kitkat and I removed a bunch of the bloatware.
My phone breaking was a good blessing.
