Apps No longer compatible after ROM

I don't know about other developers but lately I've been having a few complaints that go like this:
"I've downloaded your application and I've used it. Now suddenly after installing a ROM it says my phone is no longer compatible. Why doesn't your application work"

I've come to realize that it is most likely the ROM. My application has very few requirements (Wifi, Touch Screen, Android 2.1+). I don't understand why these ROMs are saying my application is no longer compatible. People have said that the rest of theirs work fine. I'm looking if anyone knows of something that might actually fix this issue. I know it's not because they just updated to 2.3.4 (my app runs great on Nexus S) so I don't know why sometimes people are having issues even if the ROM is somewhat imperfect. I figured if it was something really bad with the ROM then they would have problems with almost all their applications and not just mine. Is there some other criteria that might possibly ban ROM phones from using my application? I know they aren't massively used, but I try to support everybody.

The only person who would actually tell me his ROM was using
MIUI ROM running on the Fascinate

I have seen this often with Bluetooth support. Something in the process goes wrong where the drivers or some part of the ROM does not jive with Bluetooth the way it should.

However I havent seen any "this device is not compatible" complaints. My guess would be MIUI is just one of those new ROMs that isnt reporting itself correctly in your case.

If I were in your shoes I guess I would appologize they are having trouble, tell them you are looking into it but even though you wish you could, you cant guarntee a solution because it's hard to support all the cutom ROMs out there. You have no way of knowing what the ROM is doing or what kind of quality control they are doing to ensure they are meeting normal Android specs.

Just highlight that you will certainly try and support it, but dont want to promise anything.

Yes I told them I've discovered that it was their ROM and I would look into it. They understood that it was most likely the ROM's fault. I was just hoping that there could've been a "magic bullet" that would solve their problems. It sucks to exclude people, especially the ones who have used it and liked it before. I had a funny feeling what you said was the answer. Thanks.
