No Look Typing???

Yeah, it's going to take a bit of getting used to but I just bought the official version of Swiftkey. It'll be nice when they come out with true emoticons vs the ASCII ones that are there now. I don't see it mentioned on the forum but hopefully it won't be too long. I tend to use them as without voice inflection, messages can easily be misunderstood.

I don't know if you noticed it, but you can also resize the keyboard, I changed mine to gi-normous (large actually, lol) and it makes a big difference. I don't really worry about the emotions, because all the apps that I use like Line, Viber, and Yahoo Messenger have their own that you can use, and I think that the variety that Yahoo offers is hard to beat. Between the excellent prediction and super sized keyboard this really makes me type faster even though I may not be a faster typist!!!

Yeah, I just noticed today that the keyboard is resizable. Haven't played with it much, but thanks for the heads up. I also notice that it can be "unpinned" and moved around.

As for the emoticons, I don't use many apps. I text and sometimes need to use the net briefly. That's about it other than actually as a phone. <gasp> ;)

No clue what Line and Viber are and I have no need for Mess. But finally a keyboard that I can use on my display. :D

Edit: ok, so maybe I need to read up in Line and Viber ... ;)

Edit II: ok, nevermind - it requires the other parties to install too...

I've played with the resizing of SwiftKey, but I still have trouble typing with it. What I really want is for the keys to be split in the middle more so that I don't have to reach into the middle of the keyboard in landscape mode. I did try the split feature, but the problem is that the two handle bars that allow you to reposition each half are at the bottom. I want the space bar to be right up against the bottom of the screen and I cannot do that with the keyboard split light that.

Also, I'm used to seeing the input field taking up the full screen in landscape. If I split the keyboard, it just floats over the screen and can obscure part of the input field.

Anyway, I've been trying no look typing on Kii. I actually am finding I type better this way. I just look at the input field or text prediction field to see what I am typing. I still make errors sometimes, but now, I can spot problems before completing the word. I am actually surprised how well I can no look type. I guess after typing on this keyboard for so long, my fingers remember roughly where the keys are without needing to look.

Did you try the "thumb" layout? That's the one I think I'll finally settle on. I like that you can interchange the tap and swipe methods too but I doubt seriously if I'll ever get to no look on this thing. I just don't use it enough.

The more I use this keyboard the more I like it! I can even do some decent swyping with the keys set to "large." The thumb layout is actually really nice when you are typing with one hand and making dinner with the other, lol, but I certainly won't set any speed records that way!! I have to add though that the predict on this is so good that once you get rolling on this keyboard a lot of things almost write themselves it's so fast!!

I tried all of the layouts available. What works best for me is Kii Keyboard's 13-key landscape split layout. Half of the letter keys are split left. Half are split right and the number keypad is in the middle.
