No LTE in my area yet. LTE phones worth it?

Hello, I'm eligible for upgrade this month and I've been researching potential smartphones on AT&T. A pretty good selection but all the good phones have LTE.

My coverage area (Hawaii) doesn't have AT&Ts LTE network yet but I believe it does have HSPA+. I know own that if there is no LTE the phones use HSPA+ instead.

Would it be worth getting an LTE device like the HTC Vivid/One X or the Galaxy S 2 Skyrocket if my area has no LTE? Does it matter?

No, it does not matter, i would get the LTE phone, as long as its cooler and has better specs than one of the non LTE phones.

you'll have an overall better phone to do other things besides the web and you can still use their 3g service(assuming you at least have that in your area). 3g on AT&T should be good enough.

Go with the lte phone. I was in an LTE city (Akron Ohio) this past weekend and i did a speed test my girlfriends Skyrocket LTE and got 40MB+ down and 15MB+ up. With my GS2 with only HSPA+ i only got 6MB down and 1MB up. I was amazed at the LTE, and once again disappointed with my HSPA+

I'd go for the LTE phones moreso because they are top of the line in every way. I don't have LTE constantly but my Note is still full of badassery.

thanks for the feedback. i ended up picking up an HTC One X for my upgrade and i couldn't be happier. i should be traveling to Vegas soon so maybe i can make use of the LTE radio after all.

Very good choice. You'll find that there is plenty to that phone outside of it's LTE radio :)
