no more brown bags

so the schools get to dictate to the parents how to raise their children now huh?

or...it's all about the money the schools get for each child eating a school meal. don't even think about it being for the children's health.

the water spiraling down the drain is getting faster and faster every day.

When I was in high school ... 20 years ago  .... this sort of thing was just starting to be discussed.
It was also the start of the Ritalin era.... drug your kids and then wonder why they all flunk out.

I was one of the voices of dissent... I was not about to allow them to drug me OR throw away my constitutional rights because I somehow managed to lose those at the door.

They left me alone after I went into the local ACLU office and they made the school aware that they were getting close to being in the crosshairs.
(If I did this sort of thing now I would probably be called a terrorist )

Most students don't know that there is no age restriction placed on the constitution and that they don't lose their rights when they enter the building.

If I was one of these students or a parent of one... I would take my own lunch and if they attempted to confiscate it they would have to do it forcefully, then I would simply file charges of theft and battery.

If the police failed to do something I am sure the ACLU would love to take it on... make a mess of it... if they are not already working on this.

Or parents can just have their kids exercise like normal people and they wouldn't have this issue. Being kids they can get away with their terrible diets as long as they keep up with exercise. As I remember from K-12, I always brought my lunch because the food at the school simply sucked and tasted awful. I didn't bring a nutritious lunch most of the time, and most of the time my mom spoiled me and gave me tons of candy. But the difference is I still went outside to play and rode my bike. I clearly noticed a change in my health when I got my license in high school and began driving everywhere instead of biking and walking everywhere.

I don't think it's about schools getting more money, because many children are on a program for less fortunate families and get free school lunches.

It's just a sad attempt to fix kids being fatties, and ignoring the fact that kids and parents are just straight up lazy nowadays and are the ones to blame, not the food they ingest. No kid is going to bring McDonalds everyday to school. A PB&J sandwich and a soda is far from eating fast food everyday.

Since when are school lunches nutritious? My sons school lunch day is nuggets or Burger or a.Pp&j. So their lunch menu is just as bad as the parents packing. My son eats broccoli and carrots but you never see that on the lunch menus.

So are the faculty and staff have to eat the school lunch and not bag?

Dress code? Shave our facial hair? not letting our hair grow a certain way? Now lunches...immaturity pass it on a message for a better life.....

Really focus on teaching and giving children a good influence of success...

so you believe no one pays for those free lunches?
the gov pays the school for them

nothing in this world is free, someone always pays

Is there a CEO behind each school that personally benefits and pockets the gains rather than reinvesting it into the school district? If there is then I am in the wrong.

If not, I don't see what the big deal if the school get's a small bit more money. Most schools need more funding, most teachers are underpaid, and education is kind of important and needs to be funded properly.

I am not that stupid to think something is free. I'm well aware taxes fund public projects such as public schools. The money they would get for the lunch program, they put towards buying those kids their lunches.

But overall, I'm am NOT in favor of this program. If somehow getting a tad bit of profit on the side of this proposed program is somehow that significant it is purely about the money and making an individual richer, please do let me know how that small amount of money would come into affect. I would be interested in reading that (that's not sarcastic).

its not just about the money, although since the food provider profits from it people start thinking. how easy is it to bribe a principle?

its about someone saying the parents don't know whats good for their children.
and if a student doesn't like what is being served that day they have no other option but to go hungry

that is not the point. it is forced deception to allow more funding to the school. the school should not get this money because their is not other option other than using their food program.

and i concur, money isn't the biggest problem. it's the fact that the school is TELLING parents how to raise their children.
